This Weekend I.....

30 September 2013 No comments
It is after 8pm and I'm just sitting down at the computer to blog! This day was much busier than I thought it was going to be but it was all good stuff so I can't complain! I hope you're all having a great Monday!

Okay, weekend update time! This weekend was pretty laid back! On Friday last minute it was decided to take a drive to Antigonish and have dinner at Boston Pizza! It was a pretty drive because the leaves are starting to change and it was lovely driving down around sunset! Had a great dinner at Boston Pizza! Thai chicken bites are tasty! Also, might have had a nice little twisted rocket drinky! And of course I have no pictures to show you!

Saturday, spent the day running errands and hitting up Sterlings for some fresh veggies and fruits! The weather was beautiful too so for whatever reasons I love running fun fall errands on such days! Even though it was warm it was fall errands because we got pumpkins for outdoor decorations! In the evening I headed to my cousin Amy's 30th birthday party! It was nice little gathering. She is a month older than me so I get to rub that in! Nice seeing everyone that was there and I got to see the babies of the family! I bet you wish I had a picture to you show how cute the babies were but yup I took my camera and phone but left both in my purse for the whole night! One of these times I will document my weekend!

Sunday was another beautiful day! I got some house work done, put my summer clothes away and just chilled because I didn't really have much to do! How was  your weekend? I hope it was great!

I have some fun ideas coming up over the next month because I have put it out there to some friends about guest blogs and I know these people will give us some great ones. Not sure when it is going to start but I'm hoping soonish :)

See you tomorrow for some Taste of Tuesday!

I will leave with this picture of the sunset tonight!

Beauty Wednesday! Drugstore Make Up Edition!

25 September 2013 3 comments
Happy Wednesday My Beauties! I hope you're all have a great week! This week I'm continuing with my beauty Wednesday series. This week we are talking about drug store make up! We all know sometimes the drugstore brands are just as good as the high end brands. Heck they are sometimes made by the same companies! So here are some of my favorite make up products!

Face Products:
Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation and Concealer: I got these products on the recommendation from Tanya Burr and Zoella. These two are two of my favorite beauty gurus and they rave about these so I decided to pick them but and I love them! They go on smooth, have good coverage and don't feel cakey! What more could you ask for!?

Maybelline Dream Lumi Highlighting Concealer: I use this for under my eyes because it gives a nice highlight and nice under eye coverage.

Revlon Photo Ready Pressed Powder: This is my favorite powder because it gives a matte finish without being overly matte. I know I that sounds weird but I know some of you will get it!

Rimmel Bronzer: I honestly cannot tell you how many times I have repurchased this bronzer! I think I have been wearing it for over 10 years! I love the color pay off and how it isn't too shimmery! Because the older you get the less shimmery you should be.

Maybelline Great Last Clear Mascara: I use this for keeping my eye brows in place! I fill in my eye brows a bit and add this so they look good all day.

Maybelline Falsies Mascara: This was also bought because of Tanya Burr and I have to say I love it! Makes my lashes look great! I have long lashes anyways but this mascara makes them look even longer and fuller!

Almay Eyeshadows: I love the pre-packed trios that give you the look without having to think about it! Sometimes you want to play with your make up but sometimes you don't. You just want to slap it on and go! This makes that so easy! Good color pay off and gives a nice application!

Maybelline Color Whispers: Probably my favorite new product from the spring/summer. I love how you can go from a sheer color to buildable deeper shade. They go on smooth and don't dry out your lips.
Rimmel Kate Lipsticks: Great colors! I have 102 and 107. The darker red one I got because of Zoella and this is such a great shade I think everyone should go and check it out in store! These are rich and creamy. Goes on smooth and doesn't dry out your lips too bad especially if you put some lip balm on under them.
Eos Lip Balm: just a great balm, perfect for under lipsticks and just by itself :)

I hope everyone is enjoying this series! Next week I think we will be talking about face care :)

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Emmy Fashions!

24 September 2013 2 comments
Today is Emmy Fashion Day! I know I should have been more on the money and had this post yesterday but really I wanted to make sure my choices were the right ones (in my opinion anyways). I know not everyone will agree with my choices but I'm going to give you my top 3 best and worst dressed. I could probably make a list longer than that but I think Top 3 is enough :) Enjoy!

Best Dressed

Elisabeth Moss: I love this dress because it is simple but it has that bling factor without being over the top. I love how she kept everything simple from her accessories to her make up. I also wish I could pull off this hair! No idea why I love it so much but I do!

Sofia Vergara: When does this woman look bad? Oh right never! I love this color and shape on her. She know how to dress herself! I love her hair because it is easy and doesn't look overly done. I also love her accessories. Accents the dress perfectly.

Tina Fey: Momma looks good! I love this shape on her and the color is perfect! The girls will look great too. Again, her whole look looks easy, it isn't over done because that is when Tina doesn't look good because she doesn't seem like that kind of woman who needs to her perfect all the time!

Worst Dressed

Lena Dunham: Where to start? I don't think Lena is ever going to make my best dressed list! I swear I have scrapbooking paper with this same print on it! Nothing about this look works for me! Maybe if it was solid or something! Yeah I don't even know what to say for this!

Melissa Leo: WTF??? Those pants! That jacket! Yup, someone didn't look in the mirror before she left the house!

Zooey Deschanel: I don't like this dress. I think it is too closed up for her. She didn't look comfortable to me. She looked great but I really didn't like this dress.

And there you go my fashion report from the 2013 Emmys!

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Weekend Update!

23 September 2013 1 comment
Ready for the weekend baby! Oh wait it is Monday! How did that happen? This weekend flew by! And yup you got it right not one picture to show for it! I did take some pictures of some stuff I bought yesterday for instagram so you can check them out on the sidebar. I really need to get better at my weekend picture taking. And, yes I know I say that a lot!

Anyways, lets get back to my weekend! Friday, I went to see Prisoners with my family because my brother was home and we talked him into going to the movies! This is probably because none of his friends were home! Just kidding he likes spending some time with us. It was a nice evening out with everyone. The movie was good but I have to say it was long too long for me. I did like it but they honestly didn't have to make it 2.5 hour movie! Great acting in the movie though! On Saturday Erica, Chase and myself voted before we headed to Halifax to take Chase back and so we could check out Target, since it just opened on Tuesday. I got the cutest slippers from Target and they were only like $12. I could have gotten a lot more but I decided to hold back. The only thing I'm sad about is that they don't have ELF. I was looking forward to being able to get more ELF make up brushes since the ones I have are quite nice and totally doing the trick. We got to spend a nice afternoon with Chase shopping before dropping him off at his apartment. After that we went and did a bit more shopping and then headed off to dinner with my friends Danielle, Deena and Gavin. Erica's friend Johnny also joined us for dinner at Jack Astor's. It was great meeting up with them because I hadn't seen them since Danielle's wedding in August. Good food and good company! That can't help but be a good night! After dinner, me and Erica hit up Starbucks before heading back home.

First official day of fall and it basically felt like summer for most of the day! We decided to clean out Erica's car like cleaning it out, vacummed and taken to the car wash! It is all nice and shiny now! Other than that I didn't do much I have to say! I was being lazy and I liked it! haha I did watch the Emmys and I will have a Emmys' fashion post for you tomorrow.

I'm going to wrap this up now because I will just be rambling even more if I don't stop now. I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Beauty Favorites: Shower Edition! Drugstore Products

18 September 2013 5 comments
Hey Lovelies! Today I have new fun series for you! Well I hope it is fun anyways! I'm going to be showing you what my favorite products are. This week we are starting out with what I love in the shower from the drugstore! And here they are...

There is my shower caddy with all my favorite shower products! Now, lets talk about them!

  • Finesse Shampoo and Conditioner: Yes I love these because my hair pretty much hates expensive shampoo and conditioner. This probably isn't a bad thing because I can buy $2 stuff and it makes my hair look and feel great!
  • Neutrogena Anti Residue Shampoo: I have fine/thin hair so I find that product easily builds up on my hair so once a week I use this shampoo to take all that residue off my hair! I love the smell of this too! So clean!
  • Olay Body Wash: I recently picked this body wash up but I LOVE it mainly because it smells amazing! It also leaves me feeling clean and soft. I smelled the other scents and they are nice too! This is on sale at Walmart right now but I'm not sure for how long. It is $2.79 or something like that.
  • Neutrogena Acne control face wash: I use this with the Olay face scrubber. I might get the Mia someday but for right now I'm good with the one I have. I like this face wash because it is great for controlling any break outs I may have and I don't find it drying!
  • Gillette Venus Razor: It does it job and I like the handle of this razor. Also, I don't have a shaving cream in this photo because lately I have just been using a conditioner I didn't like for my hair!
  • Colgate Optic White Toothpaste: Yup I brush my teeth in the shower! This is just what I have right but I always have Colgate toothpaste
There you have it my shower favorites! What are some of your favorite products? I'm always looking for new things to try so let me know :)

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Taste of Tuesday with Ashley and Jessica!

17 September 2013 3 comments
Good Morning my lovelies! I hope you all had a great weekend and Monday! Sorry I didn't post yesterday but I just did not feel like it! I actually sat down twice to type up a post and it just didn't happen. I'm hoping what I have planned for the rest of week makes up for it :)

It is Tuesday and that means it is time for Taste of Tuesday with Ashley and Jessica! Since I had the biggest zucchini of life the other week I have another zucchini recipe for you! This is for muffins and they are delish! I actually plan on getting another zucchini and make more of them. I have to find a much smaller zucchini though!

Whole Wheat Oatmeal Carrot Zucchini Muffins! This recipe comes from Yellow Bliss Road(click here to visit the blog). I haven't gone through more of her blog but it looks like a great one and I know I will go back for this recipe and check out more. These muffins are moist, tasty and pretty easy to make! The hardest thing is grated up the zucchini! This recipe calls for raisins  which are delicious in it but also I would try adding nuts and/or pineapple bits! Everyone that tried these muffins really enjoyed them!

Zucchini Carrot Oatmeal Muffins

1/2 cup rolled oats
1 cup all purpose flour
1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
3 large eggs + 1 large egg white
3/4 cup oil
1 cup grated zuchini
1 cup grated carrot
3/4 cup raisins

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl and set aside. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs and oil. Stir in grated zucchini and carrots. Add to dry ingredients and stir until combined.
  • Fill muffin cups about 3/4 full and bake for approx. 25 minutes. They are done when a toothpick comes out clean.

Happy Friday the 13th Everyone! My favorite number is 13 so I don't have same look as most people do but I hope everyone has a great Friday! Also, yesterday I was having internet issues so that is why there was no post yesterday.

It is #backthatazzup Friday! So lets get dancing!! I'm throwing back to the Ms Britney Spears today! Have a great weekend everyone!!

Have a great weekend everyone!! xo

Taste of Tuesday with Ashley and Jessica!

10 September 2013 12 comments
If any of you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you know last week I spent much of it conquering a HUGE zucchini! I decided to bake and bake and bake with it! Pretty sure I love everything I tried! So, it was great idea! Now, of course I have to share it with you!

Today, I'm sharing the loaf recipes I made and they are both from A Pretty Life in the Suburbs. The first one is straight up zucchini bread and the second is chocolate zucchini loaf! Both, were amazing! I had made the chocolate loaf before so I knew that was going to be delish! The zucchini bread was just as good! So, yummy! I think adding raisins or nuts to the bread would be amazing too and I think I might try it next time I make this because I know I will be making it again!

Zucchini Bread - this recipe makes 2 loaves

Ingredients:
2 cups shredded zucchini (one medium sized zucchini)
3 eggs
1 cup vegetable oil
2 cups sugar
2 tsp vanilla
3 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
¼ tsp baking powder
2 tsp cinnamon

Instructions:

Shred 2 cups zucchini and just set it aside for later.
In a mixer, combine eggs, oil, sugar and vanilla.
In a separate bowl, combine flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder and cinnamon.
Then gradually add the dry ingredients to wet. Mix gently.
Stir in the zucchini.
In a preheated 325 degree oven, bake for about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Chocolate Zucchini Cake - this makes 2 loaves

Ingredients:
2¼ cups flour
½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1¾ cups sugar
½ cup butter or margarine
½ cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla
½ cup buttermilk
2 cups grated, unpeeled zucchini (1 medium zucchini)
1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 325 degrees.
Prepare 2 loaf pans. I use wax paper to line them.
Sift together the flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
In a mixer, combine the sugar, butter and vegetable oil.
Then add the eggs, mixing well.
In a separate measuring cup combine the buttermilk and vanilla.
To the butter mixture, add the dry ingredients alternately with the buttermilk.
Add the zucchini. Mix well.
Stir in the chocolate chips
Bake for 50 – 60 minutes. Or until a toothpick inserted into the centre of the cake, comes out clean.

Check out these recipes and more at A Pretty Life in the Suburbs!

Yes that is my hand beside the MONSTER zucchini!

Happy Monday!

Hey my lovelies! How is everyone's Monday going? I have to say mine is going well no Monday blues yet anyways but it is still early! I do have to say it is hard to have complaints when you wake up to a nice blue sky and the sun shining in your windows! Mind you it was/is chilly this morning! The weather has really changed to fall in the past week.

As it is Monday I'm suppose to tell you all about my weekend but I have to say I don't think I did enough to even make a post about it! I didn't take any photos and really I mainly lazed around, played with dogs and cleaned! That in a nutshell was my weekend so there you go!

This week I have a couple of fun posts planned, some good recipes and the regular party day on Friday! But, right now it is time to go and finish my squats for the day and have a shower! Happy Monday everyone!

Soup's On!

06 September 2013 No comments
Happy Friday My Lovelies! Another week is over and we are well into September now! I can't believe it is September already. Honestly doesn't feel like it should be September! Today and yesterday were fall days! Chilly! Not really but chilly not summer anymore! This weather got me in the mood for fall though :)

Anyways, since this week has been fallish and rainy (beauty of a day today though) I decided to make my tomato basil soup! When I posted some instagram photos of it everyone was asking for the recipe so I decided to make a blog post of it! I hope you all try it because it is amazing! So yummy!

Ingredients
  • 2 cans diced or stewed tomatoes
  • 1 cup of chopped celery
  • 1 cup of chopped carrots
  • 1 cup of chopped onions
  • 4 cups of chicken broth
  • 1 tsp of died oregano
  • 1 Tbsp of died basil
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1/2 of butter
  • 1/2 parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup of cream (or light cream or half and half)
  • Salt and pepper
  • Feta for garnish
Directions
  • Put tomatoes, celery, carrots, onions, broth and seasonings into the slow cooker on LOW for 5-7 hours until veggies are soft. Your kitchen is going to smell amazing!
  • About 30 minutes before you're ready for dinner make your roux, melt butter in sauce pan, add in the flour and whisk it for a couple of minutes before adding in 1 cup of the soup mix, whisk until well combined, add in another 2-3 cups of soup mix and whisk until well combined. Add it back into the slower cook.
  • Now, you can leave the soup if you want but I take my hand blender and blend my soup down because I like to have a smoother texture with my soup.
  • Now, add in your parmesan cheese and cream (I have to say I normally don't use much cream especially if I have blended the soup, once I didn't even use any so add what you like)
  • Leave in slow cooker on low until you're ready to eat. When you're ready to serve I HIGHLY suggest adding some feta on the top for garnish because it just adds that little something!
This is one of the best soups I have ever had and I'm so happy I can make it! I also love that there is so many veggies in it and I'm sure you could add whatever you wanted especially if you were blending it up. I hope you all try this and love it! Also, if you have leftovers this soup is good on pasta!

Since it is Friday I can't leave you without starting the party train with #backthatazzup Friday! I hope you all have a great weekend! See you on Monday!

Weekend Update!

03 September 2013 2 comments
Hey My Lovelies! I hope everyone had a great Labour Day weekend! I did minus the rain! It POURED down rain the last couple of days! Not the way I was hoping September would come in! But, I can't control the weather so lets move on....Weekend Update time! I wasn't sure I was going to get this up in time but I'm making myself take the time right now to bang it out! Last week I was so much more prepared for my blogging week! haha

Okay, so I'm starting my weekend on Thursday because that was the day that I did the most! It was also the most fun day because it was Matchbox 20 and Goo Goo Dolls concert Day!! We took off to Halifax, did some shopping and dropped Chase off at his friend's place before heading to dinner at Jack Astor's. It was really good! I haven't eaten there since like January or February I think. Anyways, it was super tasty! Erica and myself shared their garlic pan bread and I had a burger while Erica had the club sandwich I think. We then ended to our cousin Callee's to freshen up and get them so they didn't have to walk over to the venue since they were also going to concert. When we got there the opening artist Kate Earl was already playing so we didn't see much of her. Then it was time for Goo Goo Dolls and they were pretty great. They played the songs everyone knew plus some new ones of course. Matchbox 20 crashed their set at one point which was super funny because they came out in sweat pants, big gold chains and danced around to a rap song! Everyone was laughing! It was quite funny except I'm not sure Johnny Reznick was all that pleased with it. All in all a great set from them but really I was there for Matchbox 20 so I was super excited when it was time for them to play. They were AMAZING! Rob Thomas' voice is just to die for! They played all my favorites and then some! They did like a 4-5 song encore because it was the last night of the tour and it was just so much fun! The crowd around us was pretty awesome too since we were all into it and up dancing. If you ever get the chance to go and see Matchbox 20 or Rob Thomas GO!! They are just amazing, I would see them every night if I could. After the concert, Erica and myself headed home and I fell asleep in the car! Yup, poor Erica had to entertain herself for most of the way home! But really she kind of loves it because she blares music and sings and I don't even notice! LOL

On Friday, I had a super lazy day because the weather was crap and I was still tired from the long day before! I'm an old woman what can I say! Saturday, I don't even remember what I did on Saturday! Sunday, we packed Chase up and moved him to Halifax for school. Well I didn't go to Halifax but I helped pack him up! It was pouring rain so I just chilled and watched TV most of the day with the poopies! Yesterday, I cleaned most of the day so nothing exciting there! Hope you all had a great weekend! Happy September!!
